Luis Martin is a Brooklyn-based artist originally from Los Angeles, California. From an early age, art became both a refuge and a force of possibility, shaping the way he moved through and understood the world. Raised among Los Angeles art museums and later working at institutions in New York including Museum of Modern Art and El Museo del Barrio, Martin gained a firsthand education in the structures and systems of the art world, ultimately leading him to embrace a lifelong autodidactic approach to his practice.
Martin earned a BFA from Fashion Institute of Technology, where he coined the moniker “The Art Engineer” — a framework that allows him to merge talent, curiosity, and experimentation into a multidisciplinary creative practice. Through his work, he brazenly explores the world around him, drawing inspiration from culture, identity, movement, and human connection.
His work has been exhibited internationally, with shows in Mexico, Italy, Colombia, and throughout the United States.
